I am frequently asked the question “How did you get started making soap?”
The answer to this question begins many years ago when I was a young child growing up.
I grew up in a very large family which consisted of my mother, father, 9 siblings and my maternal grandmother (and one bathroom!) Because of our family size, we had to be somewhat self-sufficient. Many summer days were spent canning fresh fruits and vegetables which were purchased from local farmers. My love of baking was learned under my grandmother’s watchful guidance.
At a very young age, I was introduced to soap making. One of my earliest memories is sitting on the basement steps with some of my siblings watching my grandmother making soap in a large black kettle. It would be many years later in 2003 when I put that memory into action and made my first batch of soap in my kitchen. Ahh.. there was no stopping now and Betina Skin Care was born.
Having grown up with so many natural foods and products, one of my priorities was to use natural, high-quality oil and butter in my products – and the variety seemed to be endless!
My enthusiasm for sharing these wonderful natural ingredients resulted in my mission statement:
To celebrate nature and its many gifts in a creative, but responsible manner, and to facilitate my customers connection to its great wonders.
Now being a grandmother myself, I have introduced two of my granddaughters, Chloe and Jazmin, to the fun of making natural skin care products. Under my guidance, they have designed and formulated soaps of their own and sold them at farmer’s markets. Possible future soapers in the making!
I hope you enjoy browsing through the various products on this website. As the business moves forward, I will always be listening to my customers and making every effort to create products that will fulfill your skin care needs.
